Nursery in Badgonda near Mhow will soon be opened as a Tourist Spot

The forest department nursery in Badgonda near Mhow will soon be opened as a tourist spot. Recreational activities such as cycling, lakeside camping, bird watching, boating could be done at the nursery. A total amount of Rs5 lakh has already been spent by forest department for fixing swings, construction of a hut, nature trail and points of recreational activities at the spot.

The proposal still pending for approval

The work to turn the nursery into a recreational land had started six months ago. Now, the department’s approval is needed to open the reserved forest area as an entertainment zone. Eco-tourism department, which supervised the development work of the nursery, had written a letter to forest department’s regional office at Navratan Bagh to seek permission from the department’s headquarters in Bhopal to open the nursery as a recreational land.

Recently, tigers were also spotted in the area

“The nursery at Badgonda is spread over the 100-hectare land. It is the largest nursery of Madhya Pradesh. It is surrounded by forest and has movement of wild animals, including leopard, blue bull, and deer. Recently, tigers were also spotted in the area,” APCCF PC Dubey said. Once the nursery gets necessary permission to operate as a recreational park, its operational hours and rules and regulations for visitor’s safety will be fixed. Also, charges for entry, individual huts, and boating facility will be calculated.

The nursery is located some 40km away from Indore

The nursery is located some 40km away from Indore and is in the close vicinity of popular tourist spots, including, Vachu point, Choral, Patalpani, and others. It also has a beautiful lake inside. The forest officials have collected pugmarks of tigers in the area.
